Virtual realness is still a ecological niche market, but its evangelists are without doubt itch for some sort of upgrade at this point. Both the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift are approaching up on their bit anniversaries, and while each has made much interim changes (Oculus's Touch controllers, the Vive's Deluxe Sound Lather), the essence experience hasn't changed much.
HTC's Vive Pro is that kick upstairs, or at least your first choice. It'll kick off VR's bit generation in just a stint few weeks, with the soonest orders set to ship on Apr 5. And as of today there's a Mary Leontyne Pric for the first adjacent-gen headset: $799.
That's the Same price as the archetype Vive launch, at least on composition. There's a catch, though. It's $799 for just the headset, with no base Stations or controllers included. The standalone kit is meant for people World Health Organization already own a Vive and are looking to upgrade—your base stations and controllers are compatible with the new headset, so there's no reason to get more. Makes sense.
Merely it's pricey even so. Worth IT, maybe—the Vive Pro bumps the resolution from 2160×1200 capable 2880×1600, features dual front-veneer cameras instead of a single camera, includes the built-in headphones and rigid form of the $100 Deluxe Audio Shoulder strap, and more. Still, it's the same price for the Vive Pro as the entire Vive package last prison term.
There's no official Vive Favoring package terms as yet, so those who Don River't have groundwork Stations of the Cross or controllers yet will have got to wait a bit longer. I'd guess we're talk $1,000 for the orotund Vive Pro kit up though, which is a daunting measure of money.
Discouraging adequate that it makes the original Vive look like a bargain in comparison, and I suspect that'll exist the more appealing kit out awhile to seed. The original Vive package, complete with base stations and controllers, is dropping down permanently to $500, which again puts it in spitting distance of the $399 Eye Severance. Non a bad deal, especially if (as I suspect) that ends upfield being uncomplete the cost of the Vive Pro package.
In any case, the Vive In favor is accessible for preorder starting today, with shipments start April 5. We'll undergo a review in the coming weeks, but for enthusiasts who've been itching for a higher-resolution headset, this is your optimum option—or really your only option, at least until Oculus puts a price on the wireless Santa Cruz prototype we demoed last yr. That could be 2019, for every we know.
